Holiday Generic

So strange designing holiday material in the middle of august. Here are some sample designs that I've done that I'm loving so far. I can't wait to see how the super fine/delicate lines will look once engraved.

A Simple Thank You

My "thank you" notecard--- time for an update though. I feel so boring using the same card over and over.

Longest. Day. Ever.

No thanks to the endless margarita festival at Dos Caminos last night.

Cheering Kimmers Up

Three ingredients lead to a successful cheer up session: delicious guacamole, super salty chips, and a strong margarita on the rocks. So Katie, Crums, Scott, and I went to Dos Caminos in soho last night to help pep up the kimster. I hope she's feeling a little better today about things. I know I'm feeling nothing short of a little rough.

"Precious Memories"

This little gem of a listing was stumbled upon by my crush, Scott:

Carton Of Irregular Cat Hats
Date: 2008-02-07, 11:01AM PST

Hello. I have a big box of used cat and kitten hats that I have collected over the years for various occasions. As of recently my cat, Snowman, is no longer living and thus I am forced to get rid of these precious memories. I would not feel right asking money for them so I am offering the whole box for free. There are many styles from formal to cute and funny. There is a variety of 14 different hats total. I just hope you and your pet can find as much joy in these hats as me and Snowman once did.
Thank you, Patty

--------

I'm fairly certain Snowman is in a much better place now. His face in the first picture really says it all. *sidenote* I know those eyes. When I first met Evan,I was being horribly harrassed by some god-awful creep who wouldn't leave me alone. I spotted Evan and his friend at the end of the bar, and gave the best SOS eyes you've ever seen. It was a look of fear, confusion, urgency, and sheer situational desperation. Evan was my savior, The Grim Reaper was Snowman's.
And furthermore! Patty the Punisher really needs a short lesson on what constitutes "precious memories". These snapshots are not that. They seriously scare me more than the twins from The Shining. I will have nightmares about this. Like forever.

The Perfect Storm 2: Sag Harbor edition

Holy Monsoon--- as we were taking a leisurely tour of the harbor on the dingie, we turned around and noticed Trouble. We quickly gunned the dingie back to the boat, and watched as the ominous line of dark swirling clouds chased us to shelter.

Structural Lucidity

Jeremy's show, Structural Lucidity, was a total success-- everyone was oohing and awwing over his new body of work. Colin and I left the city at 4, and somehow managed to make it in time for the cocktail reception, which is no small feat. The traffic leaving Manhattan on Fridays is unbelievably bad. Like pull-your-hair-out bad. But with Colin's adept driving skills, and my amazing sense of direction (somewhere Evan is rolling his eyes), we bypassed a lot of the back up. After the show, we went and had a relaxing dinner at the Beacon in Sag Harbor. I wish all Fridays could be like this.

Livin' on a Coffee Bean

Just stepped out to quickly grab a delicious vanilla latte at my local coffee shop, and upon returning to the Tiffany lobby, ran into JON BON JOVI! He was surrounded by his people, and was carrying a Tiffany's folder. Rock stars aren't usually my thing, but lordie... he's a hunk. Thank goodness for impromptu coffee breaks.

Jeremy's Art Show in the Hamptons

Seriously, I'm beyond impressed by the never-ending talent that the Geoffroy/Wagner families seem to have flowing in their bloodstreams. Tonight, the gang is headed to the Hamptons for a cocktail reception at an art gallery featuring Jeremy Wagner's pieces (Jeremy is Evan's cousin). Evan and I also had the opportunity to see his work featured (quite prominently, I might add) in an art gallery in Paris (back in May). Jeremy is truly such a tremendous talent-- I'm constantly blown away by his creativity and ingenuity. I hope that in the near future, we can get him down to Memphis to have a huge exhibit at Askew Nixon Ferguson. I doubt there would be a single piece left afterwards.

Papa Nuggets

Just had a glowing article written about him in our Memphis society magazine, RSVP. It's about time! I hope he'll remember us little people....

Bavarian Chic

Yes, when I was first told the theme for the Rehearsal Dinner invite, I got nervous. But since the dinner is being held at the Von Trapp Family Lodge (as in the family from the Sound of Music), it all started to make sense. Using wood textures, old fashioned-feeling typefaces, and fun flourishes, I created a couple of selections for their theme that will hopefully have them running for the hills (in a good, julie- andrews-kind-of-way)

Celebrating The Happy Couple

Last night, after a quick meeting in Central Park, the Geoffroys, Jim and I had dinner at BLT market. The dinner was amazing, and I was blinded by the brilliance of Rennie's new ring the entire time. Congratulations to both Rennie and Jim-- I'm so honored to be a part of the wedding!

Oliver's Memorial

There are sometimes just no words to express the sadness that life can bring. Oliver was in the prime of his life... married happily with a young son and a promising career. He lost his battle to cancer a month and a half ago, and everyone who knew him—who knew his love for life—just couldn't wrap their head around it. For a brief moment, in Annapolis last Saturday, we had an opportunity to all join together and relive the memories of Oliver through shared stories that created both laughter and tears. Afterwards, Alice and her parents invited us to stay the evening at their beautiful home in St. Michaels-- where we continued to find solace and support in one another's company. It was nothing short of a very emotional, yet necessary, weekend. A special thanks to the Walkers for all their hospitality.

Cannon Balling

Our friend Julia, promoting Sarah Lacy's new book. Meanwhile I was breast-stroking around with my hair up, like an old lady protecting her wig.

It makes me sick how pretty my sisters are. Case in point, Ada.

For Ladies of Leisure

How wonderful it must be to go to a luncheon event- with a cocktail hour! One of these days, I hope to at least get sauced by noon, and not have to go back to the office. In the meantime, I merely design the invitations for such lush-centric events. *sigh*

Going Green (in a Blue way)

Tiffany & Co. is currently sponsoring a variety of green projects nationwide, but one such project involves corporate sponsorship of a documentary based on the effect of open pit mining on the Alaskan salmon population. Being restricted to the Tiffany blue, I tried to convey the message of the presentation, while keeping it branded. Here were two of my favorites for an invitation to their upcoming private screening of the film.

The Evster and Me

On Making Waves, headed up the Hudson. Thank god it's almost the weekend.

The Wine Glass and Sweet P go on a date.

OH MY GAWWWWD...

One of my favorite SNL clips ever. Kristen Wiig is a GENIUS. I love a) her sweater b) her surprise face with jazz hands and c) the line "her face! I forgot about her face!"

About Last Night

Crums' week long 30th birthday celebration continued last evening with the get together of the old Knot crew. One bottle of champagne and 5 bottles of wine later, we're all feeling a little rough around the edges this morning. But highlights from the night include: the cat getting tossed around (pic 2), crums receiving her first piece of Tiffany's jewelry (in all pics, looks AMAZING on her), schrade arriving with interesting tales of her adventures at The Box (I'm never going), and my incessant plight to set up a friend of mine with one of Schrade's single bachelor friends in Bermuda (I can practically taste the champagne at their wedding reception). Also, Kimmons fake-smoked a baby carrot (pic 1). Good times, Inc.

Wedding Bells and All

I met last night with the lovely Kate Midura, and her fiance, David, of Leather Spa fame (the shoe repair store is the premier place in nyc for restoring incredibly expensive kicks). We've started on a few designs for their wedding pieces (menus, welcome cards, etc)-- and here are two of my favorites for their menu.

Downpour Thursday

This morning it's rather dark and drab out due to major thunderstorms. I hate to admit it, but I really do love this weather...it's a much needed break from the intense heat we've had here in the city.
