I can't believe my new set of designs are due so soon! Exciting, but wowzers, a lot of work. I have a feeling I will be a bleary-eyed monster come national stationery show time... Luckily this year I will have the lovely team of Whitney English helping me through it.

Al at Bubby's

I heart this pic of Al. Let it be said that I might need a Bubby's intervention to be staged, A&E style. Their crusty* cheese grits are the bees knees, and have become a weekend necessity. As a southerner, it's next to impossible to find a yankee shack that can serve them up right.

*under normal circumstances, I would refuse to use that word. That's just how good these grits are. Although I've warmed up to my friend Anne's new descriptive noun for feeling unattractive: crust-bucket. Which we occasionally sing to the tune of "Hot Pockets" when we're hungover. I'll stop rambling now.

My BIG news!

Askew Design has been bought by The Whitney English Company, and we will now be in stores all across the country! I am staying on as the creative force behind Askew Design and will be creating close to 90 new invitational designs each year. The amount of exposure that AD will receive is a dream come true-- Look for my designs in your local card stores this spring. This collaboration will take AD to the next level, and make it a recognizable force in the paper world. 2010, you are shaping up to be one heck of a year, my friend. A-List Friday Night

Young Kelly and I headed out on the town to meet up with old friends... and ended up having a very swankarific time. We started at L'Artusi, a little restaurant nestled in the west village that serves up some of the most delectable morsels... particularly the mushroom salad-- TDF. We were seated in their private room and were therefore able to get as boisterous and as loud as we wanted... which wasn't tough to do. When southerners and australians mix company, watch out. Lots of laughter and empty wine bottles.



From there we headed to the most exclusive club in NYC-- the boom boom room at the standard hotel. It is today's version of bungalow 8- very strict guest list, and next to impossible to get into. While the crowd was overly pretentious and stuffy, the views and the decor were stunning. The bathrooms all have floor to ceiling windows-- so as you sit on the toliet, you look out over the city (I took a pic of it).
But with an A-List night comes an A-List Hangover. Pajamas, aspirin and water to the rescue!

*sigh*

Wishing I was still there. Damn you cold weather! My bag could barely fit my winter coat for my return to the city.

HAPPY 2010

I've been off the grid because of our remote location. Here are a few shots of the tranquility I've been basking in and the battery-recharging session I've enjoyed for three days. Thinking of you all and wishing everyone a great start to a stunning year.
