Viva La Stems

Absolutely stunning collection by Erin Fethertson... I would wear each and every piece. Then again, I've been accused of wearing a napkin for a skirt so it's no surprise that I'm drawn to these delightfully skimpy garments.

Unearthed Treasure

Apparently I went to school in the early 1900's, judging by the quality of this photo. Alright Colorado College kids, click on the image and see if you can pick yourself out of the line-up of hungover, bloated, exhausted hoodlums just desperate to get home and sleep off the night before. I found myself in the mix and it is not pretty dotcom.

The Sausage Is Coming Back!

Gatsby is staying once again with me... in one month, for the weekend. Can not wait for his little smushed-face return.

Grandmama; 1920-2010

She touched so many lives and was a living inspiration to all who had the privilege of meeting her. To know her was to love her. She leaves behind an untouchable legacy of kindness and compassion. She was nothing short of a hero to me, and I will miss her dearly everyday of my life. The last week has been incredibly emotional... thank you to all who have sent their prayers and love to our family.

New Furniture, New pup

Tada! New pieces installed in main room. Of course, the real piece de resistance is my newest fixture, Sir Gatsby, who is staying with me for a bit while his parents travel Italy.

Poster-On-A-Stick™

I love this series of promotional posters created by designer Allen Peters to promote a state fair. Funny sidenote: one of my favorite descriptive terms for someone who is marginally good looking is "county fair hot". After a long weekend of boozing, I feel like "county fair scary". Not even a funnel cake could save the likes of me today.

Lobster rolls and clam chowder are calling my name

Wishing everyone a great 4th. And to help ease into the holiday,
click here for what I must say is a hilarious and genius new blog. The NC gives it two (sun burnt) thumbs up

The Ginge, Nacho and Me. Fried.

I really am contemplating creating a teeshirt design that reads "I lived through last year's polo match, and all I got was this lousy sunburn". Where do i BEGIN? Anne and I headed to Governor's Island last Sunday for the sporting event of the summer here in NYC... Veuve Clicquot's polo match with Prince Harry and Nacho Figueras. Ohhh Nachoooo. Anyhoo, despite warnings from all weather forecasters about the intensity of the heat, Anne and I made our way there hoping, nay, expecting that event organizers had anticipated and accommodated for the extreme temperatures that the fancy crowd would have to endure. Except they didn't. What's that Alec? Yes, I'll take extreme dehydration for $100 please. They ran out of umbrellas, ice buckets and wait for it.... WATER. There was no shade for those who did not attend the sit down luncheon, and we all sat cooking in our sweat for approximately 4 hours. Anne and I finally threw in the towel, despite our love for Nacho, and headed back early. The good news? We met some of the loveliest people. Misery really does love company.

Decorating State of Mind

A few new pieces to help spruce up the apartment. Will take a picture once everything arrives... hopefully everything will work together as I have imagined it.

Benefit on the Intrepid

Shots from last week's benefit for the Wounded Warriors Fund on the Intrepid. It was magnificent seeing the sunset on the Hudson from its deck.

This is how I feel about deadlines

They just keep riding me until I just have to sit there awkwardly and accept them.

Summer Art Camp

A tee shirt design (two different colorways) I did recently for Lizzie and Anna who are creating a summer art camp for little kiddies in Atlanta.

Amagansett

Al and I packed our bags two fridays ago and braced ourselves for a harrowing trip on the train ride out to the Hamptons. Since most new yorkers take the rail to head to LI, getting on the train and securing a seat (as well as a spot for our luggage) felt like something out of Fear Factor. Well, to be honest, some of it was self-inflicted. First, we accidentally boarded the wrong train. Upon hearing the announcer on the PA system declare that the train was leaving for Oyster Bay, we quickly jumped up and grabbed our stuff. As the doors were practically closing on us as we attempted to exit, a man came rushing from behind us to give me my wallet... that I had apparently left on the seat in my moment of panic. When we got on the correct train, we unknowingly placed our luggage in a spot that hindered a wheelchair-bound passenger from boarding. I jumped up and tried to quickly move the pieces, and tripped.. practically landing me in his lap. Nothing like a quiet, peaceful start to weekend getaway....

Luckily though, we made it there in one piece. One very sweaty, flustered piece. Friday night we dined at Exile and hit the local dive bar, Talkhouse- which was packed with the most random assortment of folks: locals, new yorkers and tweens, oh my! Saturday we meandered over to the Surf Lodge for a stunning sunset. During dinner there we spotted ole crazy Real Housewive Bensimon. That lady is dark like an old wallet, with teeth as bright as a flashlight.

And of course, super planner Al had us staying at the most adorable little inn- The Gansett Green Manor. Not only was it charming, it was only a mere two steps from the main drag in Amagansett.

We loved it so much... until we realized on the last day that something a little unusual was hanging outside our door....

UMMMMMMM, why hello there noose.
Needless to say, I slept with one eye open that night.

Back from the Hamps

Have been bad about blogging, but will post much this evening. Needless to say, I managed to get my yearly burn this weekend, this time at the top of my legs... so it looks as if I have two bright red garters on either stem. sun:1, sophie:0.
