Downtown OysterFest

AM recently threw a party at his new abode, and invited a crew of derelicts (myself included) to help break in his new digs as well as enjoy freshly purchased oysters that he and a friend had hand-shucked in the wee hours of the morning. Below are a few pictures (I once again was enjoying myself too much to remember to take more than a few pre-party ones)- as well as designs for the shindig- the theme being over-the-top preppiness. I've never seen so much seersucker in one venue before- it was a sight for sore eyes for this southerner. Looking forward to next year's party and really working on my preppy Muffy VonSnootin character, complete with pearls, headband and snarky comments.

Blue Balls (by Tiffany)

Yes, we are actually considering dying golf balls blue for this Tiffany sponsored golfing event-- I hope I'm not the only sick puppy to see the humor in this. In the meantime, I've been working away on creating a one-off logo to be used on a myriad of collateral pieces.

Just returned from Atlanta where I served my godmother duties at Ralph's baptism this past weekend. I can't believe what an extraordinary little human bean he is turning into... I also can't believe how badly I want to steal him.

Ladies Night at Duane Park

A few weekends ago I went to my first ever burlesque show... in Tribeca at Duane Park. We got the lady gang together and had quite the night. If you haven't been-- GO. The dinner show starts at 10pm and lasts well past midnight. The band and the dancers were a ton of fun... but thank god I managed to avoid having to get on stage as an audience volunteer (they blindfold you and make you play paste the pasties on the dancer- after spinning you around in circles for 1 minute). Of course, no night at a burlesque club is complete without buying the obligatory set of pasties... which we promptly started wearing as monocles. Thanks to the girls for a great evening!

Baby Shower Designs for Sweet Kate

Nothing makes me happier than working with a client on their wedding.... and then later for other momentous life moments-- like baby shower invitations! Congrats to Kate and David-- I look forward to meeting that beautiful baby girl when she arrives this year.

Hit by the Flu

Have been laying low drinking tea, nyquil and chicken noodle soup like it's my job. Today is my first day back at work, and my voice is, well, interesting. I liken it to kathleen turner meets chain smoker... but my friend Anne more adequately nailed the comparison- Harvey Fierstein. If you play the clip above and close your eyes, you could be, in fact, listening to me sing. Except my singing would be sprinkled with coughing bouts of awfulness.

While in Savannah, I had a chance to finally meet the talented Emily McCarthy of Twist Paper- a fellow brand of the Whitney English Company-- as well as fellow redhead.

Eat, Drink and Be...

On time to work the next morning. Last week we honored one of our own with an after work celebration of Korean Fried Chicken (because we are ALWAYS hungry here at Tiffany's). Holy mackerel, it was scrumptious. Additionally, the little eatery in herald square served beer in clear, lit up mini kegs. I secretly wanted to make a run for it with one of them in tow.

Savannah Bliss

A few weeks ago I headed, for the first time, down to Savannah to visit Katie J and Lee. Talk about a much needed break from the wintery awfulness of this year's January. I immediately fell in love with EVERYTHING there... so much character and personality in one small town. By the end of my stay, I had decided that godhelpme, I'm going to buy a home there. From listening to Diana sing her heart out on the piano at Vics to spicy bloody marys at mansion (an old funeral parlor transformed into a boutique hotel ), I was, and am, sold. Not to mention, two of the greatest people ever reside there, and one delicious little nugget of a pup, Nora Jean.

Perlman Spring Gala

I've been chosen to once again help the Perlman Foundation with their invitations- working with them is a true delight. Above is one out of many options for their upcoming Spring gala. I used in this design option more of a graphic take on new york in the spring. I adore seeing those first pink buds in the city when things start to warm up just a touch and new yorkers become a little less cantankerous, and a lot more affable.

Throw A Bull A Bone

OLEK AND THE CHARGING BULL ON WALL STREET from olek on Vimeo.

I love this clip in which artist, Olek, knits a huge one-z for the wallstreet bull (located just blocks from my apartment) right before Christmas. In her words:

I started it with a bike and ended up with the Charging Bull as a Christmas gift to NYC and a tribute to the sculptor of the bull, Arturo di Modica, who in another guerrilla act, placed the bull on Wall Street in Christmas of 1987 as a symbol of the "strength and power of the American people" following the 1987 Stock Market crash.

Unfortunately the knitted gift was taken down almost immediately, but in light of the upcoming snowstorm (part deux) headed our way, I sort of wish he still had his bull-snuggie to see him through it.

First time to the city.... and a long overdue trip to visit my ladybird Katie. Can not wait for a southern weekend of delicious food and beautiful surroundings. Fingers crossed my flight makes it out during the current snowstorm we're once again experiencing

Little Ester and I are currently drafting up our resolutions as we speak.... and then promptly going to the bar for spicy bloodys upon completion... Here's to a great year, and a great NYE spent with friends and much prosecco and laughter
